We made it to PADUCAH!

First of all, who knew Paducah, KY was so quirky?? (Side note, apparently the answer to this question is most of the people I know, because there were several IG messages about the city and even food suggestions). We had a great time checking out the waterfront area and even ate at a farm to table restaurant (which automatically makes me a more interesting person). It was a blissful trip, just kidding we're traveling with three kids, so that fact they all made it to the hotel is a win!

We did fit in a requisite Cracker Barrel visit for a bathroom break and then Jimmy asked a stupid question, "do you want to drive?" The answer is no, but I know the question really means "I don't want to drive anymore". So we were back on the road with yours truly behind the wheel, did this give Jimmy much needed rest time? NO!! My driving skills do not impress my husband. First off, I drive too fast with the kids in the car. Second, I get aggravated at almost every driver around me, which just keeps me invested in the drive, but annoys (worries) Jimmy. Finally, there are a LOT of tractor trailers on the highways we were using and they make me even more aggravated (and as such make Jimmy even more nervous)!

Note the joy on Ella's face

Needless to say the next pit stop resulted in a change of driver, but guess what the next pit stop was!!!! A visit with my sister Jenn in Nashville, TN. She is kind of a big deal with Family Dollar and is the regional manager in the area. We only had time for a quick hello, but we will get some family time when my baby brother gets married in August!

With the safety of the Cahill family no longer in question, we made our way to Paducah. Upon entering the hotel we only locked ourselves out of the room one and only one of us slammed into a sliding door (I am looking at you Jace). We were able to walk down to the Ohio River and then found the Freight House, where we were WAY under dressed, but too hungry to care. There was a moment of mom panic when I saw the menu, but the waitress saved me with some insider information about an off-menu hamburger and quesadilla for the Children of the Corn. It was then Jimmy's turn to make the night interesting, which he did by ordering frogs legs (yum). I took one bite to show my children that I am not afraid of anything, but that was enough of that! And I wanted to save room for my Ratatouille with goat cheese (no joke)!!

So we ended day one in a hotel room where the older kids may or may not have fed their brother soap and I graded what felt like a million world history assignments. Then a plot twist, we moved to another room because the AC is room one did not work, did I sit in a now silent room and work? Maybe. Tomorrow we head to St. Louis and a Cardinals game, which will be a first for all of us.

Stayed tuned...

And as I refer to my children as characters from a horror movie, they do things like this:
